Directions & Terms/Conditions

  • User video submissions MUST be submitted by email to letsstarttheconversation@gmail.com with the subject line "Video Contest" and including the text "I agree to the terms and conditions of this contest" in the body of the email.

  • User videos must be submitted on Youtube for simplicity and easy visibility. Paste the Youtube link in your submission email along with a description of the video.

  • Share your video to Facebook, Twitter and/or Instagram with the hashtag #ConversationNZ

  • User videos with the most likes/views/retweets and/or that are highly original will be selected for judging.

  • A compilation video of some of the best entries will be made and placed on our official Youtube channel!

  • Youtube video title must include "#ConversationNZ" 

  • Videos must range between a minimum of 10 seconds to a maximum of 2 minutes long

  • Copyright of the submitted video remains with the respective entrants. However, in consideration of winning one of the prizes, each entrant grants a worldwide royalty-free perpetual licence to "Let's Start The Conversation NZ" to feature any or all of the submitted materials in any and all media for publicity and marketing purposes. This implies that any entry can be used for promotional purposes. 

  • All contest participants grant "Let's Start The Conversation NZ" the perpetual licence to copy, edit, display, publish and make available their submission materials and agree that "Let's Start The Conversation NZ" and partner/s may publish their names in connection with this video contest and the "The Conversation" campaign. 

  • It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure that all videos have been taken with the permission of the subject(s) (or, where the submission shows any underage persons, the consent of their parent) and/or venue/location/photo or sound owner and does not infringe on the copyright of any third party. Entrants guarantee that they own the copyright for the submissions and for the usage rights required by the contest, and that their entry does not infringe on the privacy rights, copyright or any other rights of any person. 

  • The video should not have any inappropriate content, language or imagery (no violence, racist comments, pornographic or personal attacks on people or organisations, etc.). 

  • The video can be in any format (e.g. animation, documentary, music video, dynamic infographic, etc) and you can choose from various possibilities, for instance a video with no dialogue, video using simple verbal expressions, video using a multi-lingual dialogue; a video with voiceover, film using subtitling, and other.

  • The entrant further agrees to indemnify, hold and save harmless and defend at his/her own expense, "Let's Start The Conversation NZ", its officials and persons performing services for "Let's Start The Conversation NZ", against any claims, suits, liability, and demands made by any third parties in respect of such infringement or other hazards that may be suffered by the entrant as a result of his/her participation in this contest.

  • Winners may be requested to offer support to promotional activities related to the campaign and this contest such as personal profiles, background information and photos. 

  • 16. "Let's Start The Conversation NZ" and partners reserve the right at any time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this contest with or without prior notice due to reasons outside their control.

  • Submission deadline is September 15, 2017.
